The assembly line enables the customer to accelerate production processes, ensure consistent quality, and automatically measure, label, and perform leak testing on every sight glass produced. Soldati AG designed a custom machine to meet all the customer’s requirements.

But let’s take it step by step: The workpiece carriers, containing the base body, O-rings, and glass panels, are loaded by hand and then automatically fed into the system via the feed conveyor. Using linear handling, the star-shaped retainers, the O-ring, and the pre-assembled oil sight glasses are transferred from the workpiece carriers to the rotary indexing table.

The processes are now carried out automatically:

• • Oiling the mold edge, 
• • Measuring the glass thickness, 
• • Pressing the mold edge (securing the glass and star to the base body), 
• • Leak test using a decoupling plier, 
• • Removal of good or defective parts via 
     the linear handling system, followed by
     sorting for each sight glass unit

The oil level sight glasses are manufactured in 5 different sizes. They are used, for example, in Volvo truck transmissions.

In addition to quality assurance and process simplification, the customer also benefits from space savings in production, but above all from a significant reduction in production costs. This enabled the customer to successfully outcompete rivals and continue to secure production orders.
